Emre Can discusses immediate future and Liverpool ambitions…

Emre Can still won’t tell supporters where his future lies, although he is adamant he’ll do everything he can to achieve something at Liverpool this season.

The German is the only Red who started all five games over the festive period and is a key component in Jurgen Klopp’s side – but hasn’t renewed his Liverpool contract and is in discussions with Juventus.

The Italians are allowed to sign him on a Bosman deal as there’s less than six months remaining on his contract, though he wouldn’t move until the summer.

Can has coyly stated his ambition is to stay fit and go to the World Cup – but also to win a trophy for Liverpool.

“First of all there are still many games with Liverpool to concentrate on, but I hope to be able to stay healthy and go to the World Cup in the summer,” Can claimed, reported by the Echo.

“We have been in a good way and we want to try to continue winning as many games as possible and hopefully that can mean having a good run in the FA Cup as well as the Premier League and the Champions League.

“We want to win a trophy. We are full of belief that winning a title is something this squad is capable of achieving and we will give our best.”

We’ve all but given up hope of Can staying at Liverpool, in truth.

If the midfielder had plans to pen terms, he would have by now, sadly.

We’ve heard from sources close to the player that it’s nothing against Liverpool, but he wants a new challenge and a new country to live in. He hasn’t renewed the lease on his property either, suggesting a departure is almost guaranteed.

Thankfully we’ve got Naby Keita arriving, as losing both Coutinho and Can is a real hammer-blow.
