Mignolet takes to Twitter; interesting January €20m move possible

Simon Mignolet is no longer Liverpool’s no.1…

Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Loris Karius is going to be given a run between the sticks to establish himself, despite playing poorly against Manchester City on Sunday.

The Belgian admitted after hearing Klopp’s quotes that with it being a World Cup year, he’ll have to consider his options, but also posted this impressive post on Twitter today – promising to work hard and regain his place.

However, Belgian outlet Het Niewsblad are claiming Mignolet is a €20m target for Napoli, where he’ll interestingly replace Pepe Reina, just as he did for Liverpool in 2013!

€20m for a keeper we no longer want seems very good business, especially if we can put that money towards signing an elite replacement.

Jan Oblak and Alisson are confirmed targets, and while both will be very, very expensive, it’s a necessary expenditure.

Really, we should have addressed the situation in the summer – but now we’re relying on the shaky Karius and an unhappy Mignolet – if he stays.

We’d have liked Danny Ward to get a chance, but the fact he so far hasn’t suggests Jurgen Klopp isn’t keen.
