Do you want to know who knew Andrew Robertson was going to be brilliant before anybody else…?
Maverick winger Hatem Ben Arfa!
We kid you not….
The Frenchman currently plays for PSG’s reserves, given hardly any chances since signing for the Ligue giants in 2016 from Nice.
But before his move to Nice, he spent an outrageously unsuccessful year on loan at Hull, alongside Liverpool’s current first-choice left-back Robertson, who at the time, had just moved to England from Scotland.
Respected French journalist Julian Laurens told a story on the Totally Football Show podcast this week in which he recalled a conversation he had with Ben Arfa during the attacker’s last spell in England.
“In fairness, they’re just not very good,” the 30-year-old told Laurens. “It’s a team with Alex Bruce in it. But there’s one who can be super, super, super good… And that’s Robertson.”
We’re not sure why we enjoy this so much, to be honest!
We can’t imagine Ben Arfa and Robbo had too much in common, but are impressed that the former could spot our latest revelation’s talent.
Robertson was so good against Manchester City on Sunday that most fans are now suggesting the £8m fee we signed him for was an incredible bargain.
