Monaco publicly tell Liverpool what’s happening with Thomas Lemar

There’ll be no surprise Thomas Lemar signing before tomorrow evening…

That much is 100% certain, according to Monaco president Vadim Vasilyev, anyway.

Lemar has been a long-term target for Liverpool and many believed we’d move for the 22-year-old having sold Coutinho – but it’s not going to happen.

“He will stay at Monaco until the end of the season 100%,” Vasilyev told French radio station RMC, translated by the Echo.

“If Liverpool or Arsenal come with a big offer before the end of the market? This is not relevant.

“We will say no because the objectives are clear.

“Without important players like Lemar, we will not succeed.”

The sad truth is that Liverpool won’t be signing anyone before February, with Jurgen Klopp confirming as much in his press-conference yesterday.

As a result, we have one creative midfielder who’s injury prone in Adam Lallana, and just Dominic Solanke and Danny Ings backing up Roberto Firmino.

Neither of the English forwards have scored a league goal in the past two years – making the decision to loan Daniel Sturridge to West Brom all the more bizarre.
