World-class playmaker [26] desperate for summer LFC switch to replace Coutinho – Report

It’s deadline day, but many of the transfer rumours surrounding Liverpool are proposed to go through in the summer, not before the window closes later on tonight.

(We guess that’s a good way of making everyone forget about them when they don’t come true…)

One that most English media outlets have picked up on links James Rodriguez to Anfield – but it’s actually from El Gol Digital in Spain originally.

They claim that the Colombian is keen on an Anfield switch and will try to cut short his loan spell at Bayern Munich from Real Madrid in order to complete the permanent transfer to England at the end of this campaign.

Rodriguez is rated as a perfect potential Coutinho replacement, due to his jaw-dropping technical and playmaking ability.

However, delving a little deeper into this story, we can’t find any truth in it. El Gol Digital claim they’ve picked up the story from English outlets, who simply re-reported a Don Balon story at the start of this month.

That particular Spanish publication is full of rubbish, sadly.

In short, this is transfer guess work.

For now, Rodriguez seems like too complicated a deal for Liverpool to get over the line. We should have seriously considered him last summer when he was available from Madrid, instead.
