Done Deal: LFC announce South American transfer, but there’s a catch…

Liverpool today announced the signing of Colombia Under-20 international Anderson Arroyo, via the official website.

The 18-year-old left-back has completed a transfer from his boyhood club Fortaleza, for whom he’s made 22 first-team appearances already, despite his young age.

However, Liverpool fans won’t see Arroyo until the summer of 2019 at the earliest.

The club has sent him on an 18-month loan to Mallorca in Segunda B in Spain in order to get him a work permit and first-team minutes.

Interestingly, Liverpool also signed 18-year-old left-back Tony Gallacher in January, with the Scot arriving from Falkirk, so it’s clear we’re bolstering the role for years to come!

While Arroyo will ply his trade in Spain initially, Gallacher will play for the U23s under Neil Critchley’s guidance.

Arroyo is very quick, a good dribbler and looks like an exciting find. Go and check out some his best bits for Colombia’s youth sides if you don’t believe us!

We wish him plenty of luck and good health for his loan spell.
