Firmino: Why I Kung Fu kick

Posted by

Roberto Firmino has been explaining his epic Kung Fu kick celebration, which he pulls out every time one of his team-mates find the back of the net!

The Brazilian is a real fan favourite, not just because he’s a wonderful footballer, but a real character too!

This term, he’s on 19 goals in all competitions and has registered nine assists, too.

“I have celebrated one of my own goals like that once before [against Swansea], but my teammates had already started going back to the halfway line and the referee was calling me back to restart the game.” Firmino told the official website.

“It was not well noticed at the time but I enjoyed it. When my teammates score a goal, I always take the opportunity to celebrate that way – the emotion makes things up in a way. It feels great to celebrate a goal.

“Since I became a professional football player, before I go out onto the pitch I’ll sometimes plan in my head what to do if I score a goal.

“I always try a new celebration, but when I don’t score I feel a bit sad. When I score a goal, I enjoy the moment – it makes me very happy.”

Along with Mo Salah, Liverpool have two of the most vibrant, exciting attackers in the Premier League right now – but Sadio Mane is struggling to replicate the form he found last season.

The Senegalese had his unfortunate suspension and a hamstring injury at the start of this season, which has derailed his progress, and he currently looks short of confidence.

The ability and physicality is still very much there, of course, he just needs to be more decisive with his decision-making in the final third.

Against Spurs at the weekend, Mane had the ball in and around the edge of the box on plenty of occasions but rarely produced a killer moment.

Still, we’re 100% he’ll come good again. He’s too brilliant not to.
