Roberto Firmino with words Liverpool fans will love to hear

Roberto Firmino admits he doesn’t envision himself playing for any team but Liverpool over the next few years of his career.

The Brazilian is currently enjoying by far his most productive season since signing for the Reds with 19 goals in 35 appearances already to his name.

Firmino has diminished doubts over his talent and risen to the occasion admirably since close friend Philippe Coutinho’s £142million move to Barcelona.

Whilst Mohamed Salah has predominantly dominated the headlines for Jurgen Klopp’s men this campaign, Firmino has arguably been just as important as the engine behind Liverpool’s counterattacking approach.

“Liverpool are one of the greats in Europe and being able to be part of the history of such a great club is gratifying to me,” Firmino told Brazilian publication Esporte.

“I’m very happy here at Liverpool and I do not see myself out of that club for years to come.”

“I believe I am living one of the best phases of my career and I owe much to the trust that the club has placed in me from the beginning.”

“Klopp is a fantastic guy. I rate him as an extremely professional coach, a perfectionist, with a winning mentality.”

Firmino has gradually established himself as firm fan favourite courtesy of his inspired work ethic alone.

Alongside Salah and Sadio Mane, the 26-year-old has spearheaded Liverpool’s emergence as one of Europe’s most exciting attacking forces and proven to be a leading figure in implementing Klopp’s philosophies.

Rewarding the former Hoffenheim with a new long-term contract undoubtedly deserves a place at the top of Liverpool’s priority jobs ‘to do’.
