Liverpool fans took to Twitter today to bemoan the fact Antonio Valencia wasn’t sent off during Manchester United’s loss to Newcastle.
The Ecuadorian raised his boot in the face of Christian Atsu – much in the same manner Sadio Mane did to Ederson of Manchester City earlier in the campaign…
While our Senegalese was red-carded and suspended, negatively affecting our season early on, Valencia was only booked.

Where’s the consistency?
Thankfully, United lost anyway, which means we can go to within two points of them with a victory at St. Mary’s.
Sadio Mane got a red card for this challenge.
Antonio Valencia never even got a yellow card for this. 🤔 pic.twitter.com/AUpYgZvBCA

Contradictions to that red card every week. Abysmal decision

Apparently he did get a yellow. Still a load of shite. Campaign against United though 👍

If Sadio Mane was sent off, so should Antonio Valencia be.

Valencia’s challenge. So similar to Mane’s although Valencia can see Atsu coming in- ref was reluctant to give a yellow but Saudi got a red pic.twitter.com/3fgFRLvmMT
