Paul Joyce makes bold Liverpool exit claim in Times article

According to respected LFC correspondent Paul Joyce, Simon Mignolet may never feature in a Liverpool shirt again.

The Times journalist was writing ahead of our Champions League fixture with Porto on Wednesday evening, where Loris Karius is expected to keep his spot in goal after impressing against Tottenham and Southampton.

With Karius the confirmed Premier League no.1, and expected to play in Europe as well, Mignolet’s chances of minutes before the summer rely on his team-mate getting either suspended or injured – or suffering a horrible run of form.

The Belgian has been at the club since 2013, but has never convinced the entire fanbase that he’s worthy of our no.1 shirt.

His predecessor Pepe Reina was world-class at his best and Mignolet never got anywhere near the Spaniard’s heights between 2006 and 2010.

In truth, it’s a surprise Mignolet has lasted so long in the first place, but Jurgen Klopp has so far shown a reluctance to bring in an elite new stopper.

Whether or not he does that this summer will depend on Karius’s form before June.

But regardless, Mignolet’s time is up.
