Bullish Bobby Firmino fires threat to FC Porto during presser

Roberto Firmino is up for this evening’s Champions League tie with FC Porto…

So much so, he’s promised our opponents they’re going to ‘suffer’ greatly throughout the 90 minutes!

That sounds like a manic gegenpressing performance has been planned by Jurgen Klopp – great stuff.

“I don’t know if they are going to be afraid or not but we will make their life difficult for sure. We will make them suffer,” Firmino said.

“I’m going to do what I can to help Mo score goals and to help all the team. I also want to help myself to make a good season.

“Porto are an excellent team with tradition in the Champions League. It will be a tough game and we have to play our best. I know it’s going to be physically and tactically a very strong game.”

The Brazilian will play centrally, but will drop deep, with Mo Salah cutting in from the right and running ahead of him, with Sadio Mane providing width on the left.

This front-three has the ability to destroy any defence on the planet, in short.

Hopefully, they’ll all hit form and receive backup from a midfield three that will likely consist of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum.

We’re not sure Porto will be used to a team that presses them so aggressively high up the field, and the fact they’ll look to keep the ball at the back will probably help us.

The Sevilla leg away from home acts as evidence of this, although similarly serves as a warning after what happened in the second-half…
