Surprising LFC team news emerges before FC Porto clash

Jurgen Klopp is expected to make three changes to his defence which kept a clean-sheet at Southampton, according to James Pearce of the Echo.

The respected journalist reckons Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip and even more surprisingly, Andy Robertson, could all be withdrawn from the lineup, with the captain adn vice-captain being restored to the midfield.

“Captain Jordan Henderson and James Milner are expected to start in midfield in the absence of the suspended Emre Can,” he writes.

“Dejan Lovren and Alberto Moreno could also be drafted into the line-up.

“Joe Gomez is likely to return in place of Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back following a recent knee problem.”

Liverpool defended excellently on Sunday at St. Mary’s, and three changes feels like a lot to us.

In fairness, Lovren’s been outperforming Matip recently, although he undeniably has an error in his locker. Gomez is older than Trent, but has been making a few mistakes of his own over the past month. The decision to field Moreno over Robbo is one we’re really struggling with, however.

Our last European away game of serious note was in Spain, where the 25-year-old’s barbaric performance led to Sevilla clawing back our three goal lead.

The hostile Estádio do Dragão is the kind of place that could see Moreno lose his head again. Hopefully, he’s up to the job.
