Rafael Camacho’s stunning late strike sealed a 2-0 win on Wednesday as Liverpool’s U19s overcame Manchester United in their last 16 UEFA Youth League clash.

The substitute’s individual effort compensated for missed opportunities by Steven Gerrard’s side in the first half and helped see off a second-half fight back from the visitors.

Liverpool went 1-0 up in the 11th minute thanks to a cleverly-directed header by Ben Woodburn, who was captaining the young Reds.

The superb Neco Williams is also deserving of a mention having produced a perfectly-weighted cross to feed the Welshman’s run.

Curtis Jones and Herbie Kane went frustratingly close shortly after as the young Reds struggled to make their early dominance count.

Gerrard’s men produced a stern defensive display following the interval to match United’s determined search for an equaliser.

Camacho eased nerves just over 10 minutes from time as he cut inside on his left foot before finding the net with a fierce long-range curling effort.
