Agent provides update on Liverpool target’s future as Serie A club work on signing a replacement

Jorginho’s agent has spoken amid ongoing speculation over the Napoli midfielder’s future this season.

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool and just about every big Premier League club have been linked with the Brazilian-born Italy international lately after his impressive form in Serie A.

And since things don’t exactly look good on the Emre Can front right now, there’s certainly scope for Jurgen Klopp looking at someone of Jorginho’s calibre to come in.

According to the Metro, our interest has prompted Napoli to begin searching for a replacement, with Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira supposedly the main man on their radar.

Crucially, however, Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos says his client isn’t looking for a move, and that Torreira would most likely not actually come in as his immediate replacement, but as a sub.

Still, there’s some hope of us snapping him up if we make an acceptable offer to his club…

‘If Torreira does arrive, then he will likely start as a sub,’ Santos told Italian radio station CRG.

‘I don’t know what Napoli’s plan is but Jorginho doesn’t want to leave (Maurizio) Sarri’s team.

‘If there are offers for him and Napoli agree, then we could maybe talk about it but let’s see.’

It’s hard to know what to make of this rumour at this stage, but as mentioned above, it’s one that makes sense given both the player’s fine form and Liverpool’s midfield situation.

Still, he doesn’t exactly scream of a player desperate for a move, so this won’t necessarily be an easy one for us to pull off even if we are looking at him, which surely depends much on how Can’s situation plays out anyway.
