Not even a four-goal performance could quash Mohamed Salah’s tendency to swerve individual attention in aid of praising his teammates.
The Egyptian scored four as Liverpool beat Watford 5-0 on Saturday, but was more concerned with a valuable three points for the Reds.
Salah swiftly diverted the attention away from himself and instead towards the role of his teammates in helping him achieve his remarkable scoring feat.
“I have to thank every one of my teammates, without them I couldn’t have reached these numbers,” he told BT Sport.
“Each game we try to get the three points, that’s the most important thing, but every game I want to score, I want to help the team.”

Salah’s four goals typified the catalogue of traits that have combined to fuel an unimaginably prolific first season back in England.

In scoring four, Salah went four goals clear of Harry Kane as the Premier League’s top scorer with 28, as well as reaching 36 goals across all competitions to beat Fernando Torres’ best season for the Reds.
It’s worth noting he also boasts the third most assists in the league with nine, bettered only by Leroy Sane’s 11 and Kevin De Bruyne’s 14.
