Jurgen Klopp has apologised to Dominic Solanke for not picking him in the Match Day squad against Watford.
Liverpool won 5-0 without the help of the young Englishman. Mo Salah scored four, centre-forward Roberto Firmino got one and was replaced for Danny Ings, the striker who seems to have climbed above Solanke in the pecking order.

“Dom Solanke [was] not in the squad, that’s unbelievable. I have no explanation for that, to be honest, apart from that I can only take 16 plus two goalkeepers so it’s just good,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com.
We’re perhaps not as surprised as Klopp, considering Solanke hasn’t scored a goal yet for Liverpool in his 20 appearances – although in fairness – most of those came from the bench.
Ings deserves the current backup spot though, impressing in his cameos from the bench.
He offers more pressing, aggression and finishing ability than Solanke right now – but really – we’d just love for one of them to find the back of the net before the season is up!
In the summer, Klopp may need to buy another forward, or at least an offensive winger, as an injury to one of the front-three will leave us short.
