With no football to look forward to for another 10 days or so, Liverpool fans have been discussing who will and who will not be at the club next season, while deciding how much pyro to bring to the City game.
And today, Emre Can set everyone talking following an interview with German media outlet Sueddeutsche.

This quote, which has been circulated by English media has caused outrage among Liverpool fans, who believe this is proof the 24-year-old wants to leave:
“I have enough self-confidence to say my qualities are sufficient to play for a big club next season,” he said, which many believed was an implication from Can that he’s too good for us.

Emre can has said he wants to play for a "very big club". I wonder what that means? Wouldnt you say a team in the CL QF and will probably be the only team challenging city next season is a very big club? Also what about the history, surely that counts?

However, after reading the entire interview, we think Can’s quote has perhaps been taken out of context.
He’s still very complimentary about Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp and the fans – which makes the situation regarding his future all the murkier.
“Jurgen Klopp has been asked a lot of times about my future but he tells me as long as it doesn’t affect me, it’s OK,” he said.
I like our tactical play, the early press, the direct play forward,” and stresses that “Liverpool FC still feels like family.”
“What counts for me is that I’m an integral part of the team and at a club with a chance of winning the title,” he added.
“That’s what every footballer dreams of because that’s the reward of your hard work.”
“During my first pre-season in the USA I realised how many fans this club really has,” Can recalled.
“No matter where we went, thousands of people were there. That’s when I realised what massive history this club has.”
We do though think he’s still going to leave.
He’s trying very hard to do so in a respectful manner and in fairness, he has given his all on the pitch – but the fact he won’t pen new terms speaks volumes.
In the summer, we need to get another high quality defensive midfielder, along with Naby Keita, who’s already arriving.
