Abdoulaye Doucoure hasn’t shied away from proclaiming his ambition of playing for a club like Liverpool at some point in his career.

The Watford midfielder has been a star performer in another mixed season for the Hornets, capitalising on his pure physique to adapt impressively to English football.

A assertive and aggressive approach has seen him flourish as an all-action contributor capable of sweeping up opposition attacks and threatening in the final-third himself.

He has unsurprisingly caught the attention of a number of Premier League sides, with Liverpool rumoured to be one of them as Jurgen Klopp seeks to find an Emre Can replacement.

Doucoure is seemingly open to a future switch in aid of fulfilling his personal ambitions and has revealed his delight over stepping out at Anfield.

“Liverpool is a club that needs no introduction,” he told Canal+.

“I was impatient to play there at Anfield, I wanted to feel the atmosphere. For me it would be a dream to play in a club like this.”

“I am grateful to Watford, I have the confidence of this club, it is the one who revealed to me [to the Premier League]. If there is an offer, we will discuss to find the best solution. Everyone wants to play in the Champions League, the big competitions.”

The Frenchman is a worthwhile option for Liverpool to look into, with his power and athleticism capable of replacing what the club would lose with Can in terms of physicality.

He similarly boasts a ferocity to the manner in which he drives forward with the ball, touting him as an ideal fit to the Reds’ swift transition from defence to attack.

A more defensively-inclined nature to his game would also fare well in offering much-needed added protection for Klopp’s back four, not to mention complimenting an undoubtedly more forward-thinking Naby Keita.

With the added bonus of Premier League experience, he would mark a realistic and logical target were Can to eventually leave.
