Roy Hodgson won’t give Liverpool the ‘good’ injury news we’re after

We’d never actively hope for an injured opponent, especially from a club we should be beating anyway, but the fact of the matter is that Crystal Palace are a much, much worse team without Wilfried Zaha.

The dangerous winger is by far Palace’s best player, but has struggled with injuries lots this season and was sent home early from international duty with the Ivory Coast.

As a result, it’s looking unlikely that Zaha will be able to start on Saturday lunchtime, with Jurgen Klopp’s side travelling to south London for an early kick-off at Selhurst Park.

But their manager Roy Hodgson has refused to rule the 25-year-old out.

He told the Echo: “It was amazing Wilf made that Huddersfield game, we were expecting him to be out until about Bournemouth.

“Everything he’s doing now is a bonus. It’s good that he’s been able to get the necessary treatment over the last few weeks. Will have to see.”

Earlier this season, we earned a 1-0 win over Palace with Sadio Mane scoring the winner at Anfield, but another three-points against a side we’ve struggled lots against is vital.

With Chelsea playing Spurs on Sunday, one of our direct rivals for the top four are going to drop points, so it’s imperative Liverpool take advantage of it.
