Liverpool ‘target’ agrees €42m summer switch as another one bites the dust

James Rodriguez, suggested as an eventual replacement for Coutinho in Liverpool’s midfield, will permanently join Bayern Munich in the summer.

Marca claim that the German giants will pay €42m for the Colombian, who lit up the 2014 World Cup, with that fee being an agreed clause in his current loan deal from Champions League holders Real Madrid.

In this market, €42m is an absolute steal for Rodriguez, especially considering how well he’s done this season under Jupp Heynckes.

The 26-year-old has 11 assists and five goals for Bayern and will likely be integral to their chances of European Cup glory, with the Bundesliga title already wrapped up.

Liverpool will have to turn attentions elsewhere at the end of this campaign.

We’ve done well without Coutinho since selling him to Barcelona for £142m, but in reality, especially with Adam Lallana’s woeful injury record, we need another creative, central playmaker purchased.

Thomas Lemar was heavily linked but our interest appears to have cooled, while Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic has always been on the radar.

We think the actual name though will come out of left field and as of yet has not been heavily discussed.

Our first-choice would be Nabil Fekir, but time will tell who Klopp plumps for.
