Will Liverpool v Manchester City be decided by a penalty or a red-card?

Quite possibly, if the referee for tonight’s clash is anything to go by.

LFC fans are worried about this happening to Jordan Henderson tonight…

Dr. Felix Brych has handed out an extraordinary 17 yellows, four penalties and one red in this season’s Champions League.

The Echo highlight his past four games in Europe’s top competition:

  • November 1st, 2017: Napoli 2-4 Man City (Three yellows, one penalty awarded to Napoli)
  • November 21st 2017: Sevilla 3-3 Liverpool (Five yellows, one penalty awarded to Sevilla)
  • February 13th 2018: Juventus 2-2 Tottenham (Five yellows, two penalties awarded, both to Juventus)
  • March 6th 2018: PSG 1-2 Real Madrid (Four yellows, one red card as Sergio Ramos received his second caution)

Jordan Henderson is worryingly just one booking away from a suspension, which is even more of an issue due to Emre Can’s injury.

Right now, the skipper is the only player capable of dictating our midfield in the no.6 role.

If he gets booked and misses next week’s leg at the Etihad, Jurgen Klopp will have a huge decision to make. Perhaps James Milenr can slot in, as there’s no guarantee Can will be fit.

It’s not something we should worry about though, in all honesty.

Brych may be card happy, but City will need to be as vigilant as we will.

For the visitors, Fernandinho is on the verge of a suspension, too. Hopefully the Brazilian will make a mistake and receive a yellow as he’s integral to Guardiola’s side.
