Salah’s old coach gives Mo advice that Reds will love…

Mo Salah’s former international manager Hassan Shehata has encouraged our winger to stay with Liverpool and ignore potential approaches from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Shehata managed his country between 2005 and 2011, giving our superstar his debut in the final year of his reign.

Salah has this season developed into a world-class player under Jurgen Klopp’s guidance, boosted by exceptional team-mates such as Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino who maximise his attributes.

He’s scored 38 goals in total and and a result, there has naturally been interest from Spain’s two biggest clubs.

But Shehata thinks a move to Barca or Real Madrid will negatively affect Salah as the flyer will be below Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the pecking order at both clubs.

He told Egyptian TV, cited in the Echo: “It is honour to us when we talk about Mohamed Salah.

“He did great job this year with Liverpool. He can either leave for Barcelona or Real Madrid, or he can stay with Liverpool.

“It is up to him, but I think he should play for the team who will always let him play.

“Salah is the biggest star with Liverpool, but with Real Madrid he will under the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo – and that’s what made Neymar leave Barcelona, because he wanted to be out of Lionel Messi’s shadow.

“Salah should think very well before he leaves Liverpool and get advice from trustworthy professional people, then he will take the best decision for himself.”

To be fair, this is fairly inconsequential as Liverpool will flatly not sell Salah in the summer, regardless of a monumental offer.

He’s got five years on his contract and will probably be awarded a new one, which is the least he deserves.

We think Salah is above Neymar in terms of his level right now, so if the flamboyant Brazilian went for £200m, it would take at least an extra £50m to prise Mo from Anfield!
