LFC scouting 25-year-old to partner Keita in what could be a ‘Klopp special’

While he was at Borussia Dortmund, Jurgen Klopp and his transfer team made a name for themselves by plucking players from relative obscurity and turning them into world-beaters.

Robert Lewandowski was bought from Poland and Shinji Kagawa from Japan…

Even Mats Hummels was purchased from Bayern Munich originally after Dortmund’s rivals had decided the central defender wasn’t good enough.

So the fact Liverpool have been heavily scouting the Austrian League and have been mightily impressed with Red Bull Salzburg’s Valon Berisha doesn’t worry us.

According to SPOX, a reliable outlet, we’ve been scouting the 25-year-old midfielder throughout Salzburg’s European campaign, too. They knocked out Borussia Dortmund and are currently fighting for a semi-final spot with Lazio.

Berisha scored twice at Signal Iduna Park last month and has mightily impressed Liverpool’s coaches.

He plays with an all-action style, is combative and bursts forward whenever he can. Berisha, a former Norway international who now plays for Kosovo, is industrious and a natural leader.

Liverpool already have Naby Keita arriving in time for the 2018/19 season, but with Emre Can departing on a free, enforcements are required.

Berisha is the right age and is actually way too good for the Austrian Premier League.

Is he good enough for Liverpool? That remains to be seen – but it’s the kind of left-field deal that excites us – simply because of who our manager is.
