Liverpool’s formidable front three achieve landmark goal records v Bournemouth

Liverpool’s fearsome front three continued their remarkable scoring form on Saturday to cruise to another three points with a win over Bournemouth.

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane were all on the scoresheet in the same game once again, with each of them reaching respective landmark goal tallies.

Mane’s early first-half opener marked his 17th goal of the season across all competitions and saw him become the highest-scoring Senegalese footballer in Premier League history with 44 goals.

The forward now sits on 10 league goals, meaning he has reached double figures in four consecutive seasons in England’s top flight.

Salah was made to wait to get on the scoresheet by some stern Bournemouth defending, but wouldn’t be denied when his expertly cushioned header beat Asmir Begovic following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s stunning cross.

The Egyptian took his tally to 40 goals across all competitions for the Reds, with Roger Hunt and Ian Rush the only other players to achieve the landmark in Liverpool’s history.

His goal also propelled him to a spot among Premier League royalty, making him just the eighth player to score 30 goals in a season.

He now stands a reasonable chance of matching Alan Shearer’s 34-goals season, which he amassed over 42 games – four more than the current 38-game campaign.

Firmino capped off another superb day as he registered his 25th goal this season, combining with Salah to produce the first season in which two Liverpool players have scored 25 since John Barnes and Ian Rush in 1989/1990.

Doubts over the Brazilian’s value as a central-striker have long-been quashed, as has criticism of his conviction in front of goal.

His composed finish saw him become the highest-scoring Brazilian in a single Premier League season with 15 goals and extended his lead as Liverpool’s leading scoring under Jurgen Klopp with 48.

The Reds’ notorious trio has now contributed an astonishing combined total of 82 goals to further their claim as one of Europe’s most deadly attacking forces.
