Van Dijk makes extraordinary claim about Liverpool’s front three

Virgil van Dijk insists Liverpool currently flaunt the best attacking force in Europe in Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

The Dutchman has expertly held the fort at the back in recent weeks as a solid foundation on which the Reds’ front three have unsurprisingly taken advantage of.

Notable defensive improvement since the £75million signing’s arrival has glossed the unrelenting scoring form of Jurgen Klopp’s attacking talisman.

Van Dijk has opened up on not only playing behind them, but also reaping the benefits of playing against them in training. He has seemingly also elevated the three onto the same elite pedestal as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“It’s good stuff playing against them in training, it makes you better,” he said, as cited the Mirror.

“I am training and playing against the best three forwards in Europe at the moment, together with a couple of other guys in Spain!”

“They are just making you better and you learn a lot.”

Salah’s goal in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth saw him take his tally to a remarkable 40 for the season across all competitions, joining Roger Hunt and Ian Rush as the only players to achieve the feat in the club’s history.

In the process, he extended his lead as the Premier League’s top scorer by beating both Messi and Ronaldo to 30 league goals this campaign.

Firmino similarly reached new scoring heights by moving to 25 goals across all competitions and reaching the highest Premier League tally for a Brazilian in a single season with 15.

Both followed up Sadio Mane, who scored his 10th league goal to become the highest-scoring Senegalese footballer in English top flight history.

Having spearheaded Liverpool’s surge to the Champions League semi-finals, there is no question they warrant a reputation as one of world football’s feared frontlines.
