Jurgen Klopp reveals significant injury return ahead of West Brom

Liverpool have been handed a timely fitness boost ahead of a defining conclusion to the season on both the domestic and European platform.

The Reds have been rocked with an inconvenient injury crisis in recent weeks, but one which they have dealt with admirably by strengthening their grip on a top-four spot and overcoming Manchester City to reach the Champions League semi-finals.

Injuries have seen Adam Lallana’s torrid season on the sidelines continue, as well as Joel Matip being ruled out for the remainder of the campaign. Nathaniel Clyne is another to be nursing a slight knock having spent the majority of the season on the treatment table with a back problem.

Emre Can has also been out of action since being substituted in the first half of Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Watford, with the German having potentially played his last game for the club ahead of his expected summer departure.

Joe Gomez has been another absentee although the 20-year-old has handed the Reds a lift by returning to training.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “Clyney struggled a little, he had a little muscle issue – unfortunately after a completely normal session. He is probably not available for tomorrow.”

“All the rest are available. Joe is back in full training, Dejan had only a little bit longer recovery but he trained yesterday as well. Nobody else I think, that’s it.”

“There is no real news about Adam and Emre; they are in a good way [but] we will see what that means at the end.”

Gomez’s return comes at an ideal moment for both Liverpool and the defender himself, with not only a Champions League semi-final beckoning but also a potential spot in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.

The former Charlton man picked up his problem during last month’s friendly against the Netherlands having been handed a start at the centre of defence.

With key Premier League games still remaining, he will get the chance to reignite his fight for an England role.

Dejan Lovren’s availability comes as another positive given the Croatian’s fine form alongside Virgil van Dijk in recent weeks.
