Jurgen Klopp insists Mohamed Salah’s individual objectives don’t outweigh his desire to help Liverpool enjoy a superb season.
Despite the Egyptian’s remarkable scoring figures, his manager claims the team’s triumphs are the main goals of one of football’s most humble servants.
Salah now boasts a four-goal lead over Harry Kane as the Premier League’s top scorer after bagging his 30th in last Saturday’s win over Bournemouth.
His expertly-cushioned header also marked his 40th across all competitions, leaving him in sight of Ian Rush’s incredible tally of 47 over the 1983/1984 campaign.
“There are always personal targets, but the main target for Mo is to finish in the Champions League spots and, in an ideal world, to go to the final – and if you are then there, to win the final,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com.
“We don’t have to think too much about that; it’s not that we start now bringing him into situations where he can score.”
“We have to play normal football and in the end, if Mo is at his best, he will be a goal threat at least. If he is in the right positions, he will score or not. That’s how it always was.”
