Jordan Henderson makes sure Mo Salah dominates spotlight after PFA Award

Jordan Henderson insists Mohamed Salah deserves all the credit for his remarkable season on the basis of his dedication to the cause.

The Liverpool captain accompanied the Egyptian as he picked up the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award at Sunday evening’s ceremony.

Salah was quick to divert the praise back towards the assistance of his teammates, only for Henderson to ensure he deservedly hogged the spotlight on this occasion.

The midfielder told Liverpoolfc.com: “All the hard work goes down to him, he’s in the gym all the time, improving his strength and in training he’s always working hard for the team, and he gets his just rewards at the end of it.”

“He’s always doing work behind the scenes, always in the gym doing little bits here and there and working on his shooting and stuff in training, always working hard on what he needs to do for the team first and foremost, but then his goal tally speaks for itself really.”

Salah has embarked on an fierce resurgence following his lacklustre spell with Chelsea in 2014, rediscovering his rhythm and self-belief in Italy with Fiorentina and Roma to market himself as an ideal fit to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Having arrived flaunting the traits designed to see him thrive at Anfield, the 25-year-old has since exceeded expectations beyond belief.

41 goals across all competitions later and he finds himself on the verge of a top four finish in the Premier League, boasting the title as English’s football’s best player this season and in a Champions League semi-final.

There is something about his unassuming and menacingly quiet nature that suggests he was always meant to be a Kop hero.
