Klopp’s funny metaphor about Ox indicates summer transfer plans

Jurgen Klopp will not be looking to buy another central midfielder this summer to replace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, even though the Englishman is expected to be out for some time with the nasty knee injury he picked up on Tuesday night.

Going into a tackle with AS Roma’s Aleksandr Kolarov, Ox twisted his right knee and was stretchered off not long into our 5-2 win.

Early reports suggested he could be out for nine months, although thankfully, it’s not expected to be quite as serious as that [liverpoolfc.com].

Klopp discussed the incident via his press-conference at Melwood today, promising to wait for the Englishman’s return to fitness:

“It’s not fair but if you get a lemon you have to make lemonade out of it. I told him, we will wait for him like a good wife when the man is in prison.”

Hopefully, Ox will be back in pre-season and there’d be no need for another player anyway, but the fact Klopp has assured the 24-year-old there’ll be no thought of replacing him before next season will help his recovery.

Liverpool are currently threadbare in midfield, with Emre Can and Adam Lallana also injured. Naby Keita is signing in the summer, but we still need at least one more arrival, especially with Can’s potential departure.

A no.6, someone who can both break up play but also create from deep and control possession, would be nice.
