Real Madrid’s world-class German midfielder Toni Kroos has discussed Liverpool’s progression to the Champions League Final.

Toni Kroos has just offended all Liverpool fans with misguided Gerrard view…

We beat AS Roma in the semis, having dismantled Manchester City in the quarters, and will now face Real Madrid, the consecutive winners, in Kiev.

“They are not there for nothing,” Kroos told ESPN. “This team surprised me [in the quarterfinals] against Manchester City, and impressed me very much.

“It’s one match, and we are very much looking forward to it. We will travel to Kiev to win it, and even if that’s a set phrase it worked pretty well in the past two seasons.”

Kroos is just one of a number of players at Real Madrid who can viably be considered as some of the best of their generation.

Sergio Ramos is the best central defender on the planet, Marcelo is the best left-back, Kroos himself is probably the best controlling midfielder (though his team-mate Luka Modric could stake a claim) and Cristiano Ronaldo is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Liverpool meanwhile will be fielding a teenage Academy product at right-back, an £8m left-back signed from relegated Hull, a 32-year-old Bosman midfielder and the country’s most criticised centre-back.

So, it’s going to be a tough ask.

But under Jurgen Klopp’s guidance, Liverpool are more than a sum of our parts.

And on top of that, the forward line has the capability to tear anyone apart in a quick burst at any point.

Bring it on!
