Liverpool decide to sign 6ft.3′ prodigy as Karius competition

This looks like the kind of transfer rumour which has legs, in fairness.

It seems very Liverpool, and very Jurgen Klopp.

Mirror journalist James Nursey is reporting that we’re leading the race for Ukrainian keeper Andriy Lunin.

The 19-year-old won his first cap this year and has been shining for Zorya Luhansk after leaving Dnipro in 2017.

He’s 6ft.3′ and rated as a terrific prospect, with Watford, Leicester City and Inter Milan paying close attention.

We currently have Loris Karius as our no.1, with Simon Mignolet, the experienced backup, surely expected to depart in the summer as a result.

Danny Ward is still on the books, but it doesn’t seem like Klopp rates the Welshman, so we reckon he could head out of the club, either on loan or permanently, as well.

This means a new stopper will surely arrive to compete with Karius for the spot between the sticks.

The Mirror reckon Lunin will be the third-choice keeper, meaning another may arrive, too.

At EOTK, we think Liverpool should break the bank for an elite no.1, but in all honesty, would be surprised if it happened.
