Barca chief leaves door slightly open for Dembele’s proposed Liverpool move

Barcelona won’t be selling Ousmane Dembele to Liverpool this summer – but that’s ok – because we probably wouldn’t be interested or capable of buying him either.

On Sunday, French outlet RMC made the bold claim that Jurgen Klopp is keen on the 20-year-old wonderkid winger – but the only way we’d be able to secure him is surely on loan.

After all, Barca signed him from Borussia Dortmund less than 12 months ago for a jaw-dropping £135m [BBC Sport].

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says a permanent exit is impossible, but says that discussions over his future will take place at the end of the season, suggesting a loan move is possible…

“The option of selling him is not on the table. We are finishing the season and then there will be meetings,” he told Catalan radio station RAC 1

“He’s an investment for the future. He is very young and we expect a lot from him.”

With the Catalans expected to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid [BBC Sport]; having already got Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Coutinho to choose from, it’s possible that a loan deal and first-team football could benefit Dembele.

Of course, there’s no guarantee he’d get straight into our front-three, with Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino enjoying phenomenal seasons – but Jurgen Klopp is a well-known admirer and our strength in depth is woeful.
