LFC rocked with midfield injury news that rules player out of CL Final

Anyone who says they’re glad Emre Can hasn’t been featuring for us recently because he’s leaving on a free transfer isn’t using their heads properly…

Yes, we’re disappointed with the fact he’s exiting on a Bosman, but the current midfield options at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal look completely bereft of energy after weeks of combining Champions League knockout football with the Premier League.

We’ve lost our past two fixtures, with Klopp even using Trent Alexander-Arnold as a makeshift midfielder to allow shattered skipper Jordan Henderson a rest at Stamford Bridge.

It didn’t work.

Can would be a mighty helpful addition for the Brighton game in a week, and the Real Madrid clash on May 26, but Telegraph journalist Chris Bascombe has claimed it’s very unlikely he’ll play again this season.

This means the 24-year-old has played his last game for Liverpool.

We’re not sure if he’ll be in contention for World Cup selection either, having not featured at club level since early March.

It’s a sad state of affairs, to be honest – but Can not signing an extension is not only his prerogative but also his legal right.

As a result, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also out for for months, and with Adam Lallana seemingly unable to get fit anymore, our midfield for both games picks itself: Henderson, Wijnaldum, Milner.
