Real Madrid president labels Liverpool, ‘A piece of cake’

Real Madrid’s honorary president Francisco Gento thinks his club will stroll to victory over Liverpool in the Champions League Final.

On May 26, Zinedine Zidane’s consecutive champions face Jurgen Klopp’s rampant Reds in Kiev.

Both sides are third place in their respective leagues, but have been untouchable in Europe, with PSG, Juventus, Bayern Munich, FC Porto, Manchester City and Roma falling at the wayside.

Gento is convinced his side will collect their 13th European Cup, despite Liverpool handing out multiple batterings so far and scoring more goals (46) than any side in the competition’s history.

“Everyone gets excited by these kind of games – everyone wants to be there to support the team and cheer them on to win another European Cup – and continue this great run we’re in and which we have always enjoyed [in this competition],” he said, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

“Madrid cannot let this chance slip – finals are to be won, not played and Real Madrid know what is at stake”.

When asked if he was confident of Los Blancos victory, Gento replied:

“That goes without saying, it will be a piece of cake”.

Well, that’s Klopp’s team-talk sorted, then!

He and his team will lap up this kind of arrogance, to be honest. Liverpool are better as underdogs, when our opponents are underestimating us.

If Liverpool can play their high-tempo, ruthless brand of pressing football, then we have a mighty good chance in a few weeks’ time.

The key is that nobody leaves anything out on the field, the strikers finish their chances and the defenders put in world-class displays.
