Liverpool draw up three-man shortlist of winger targets – report

Jurgen Klopp’s attacking impetus seemingly thrives on the prospect of flaunting an embarrassment of riches.

The Liverpool boss looks eager to bolster his attacking ranks over the summer ahead of a Premier League campaign in which his side will be expected to mount a determined challenge for the title.

A system dictating attack as the best form of defence still finds itself in need of greater strength in depth, including a replacement for Philippe Coutinho.

Wingers appear to be on the radar again, with Klopp supposedly eyeing up one of three men to relieve the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah of some pressure.

Liverpool have identified a three man shortlist consisting of Bordeaux’s Malcolm, Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey and Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic, according to the Daily Mail.

Brazilian Malcolm has notched 10 goals in 30 Ligue 1 outings this season, whilst Bailey currently sits on nine goals and six assists in the Bundesliga.

Though Pulisic has endured a less productive campaign as far as the statistics suggest, he remains a long-term target for Klopp.

Liverpool had an £11million bid for the American teenager rejected in summer 2016, but are believed to have been monitoring his progress ever since.

Manchester United have also surfaced as possible suitors for the 19-year-old in light of Anthony Martial’s potential departure.

Pulisic has arguably displayed the most evidence to suggest he has the capacity to flourish in the central attacking role Coutinho often occupied.

Nonetheless, accelerating reports linking Liverpool to Lyon’s Nabil Fekir could open the door to more conventional wide men in Malcolm or Bailey shifting towards the top of the wish-list.
