Liverpool finally learn how much they must pay for Naby Keita

Liverpool have found out how much they will have to pay for Naby Keita following RB Leipzig’s final game of the Bundesliga season.

The Guinean’s price-tag had the potential to alter according to what position his current employers finished in the league table.

Last summer’s agreement scheduled Keita’s official arrival for July 1 this year, but left his final price-tag inconclusive due to factors in the deal.

With Leipzig having finished in sixth-place and qualified for the Europa League following their 6-2 win over Hertha Berlin, Liverpool will now pay £52.75million for his services.

Keita’s final game of the season serves up a timely reminder that his next outing will likely be in a Liverpool shirt in pre-season.

The 23-year-old’s regular reminders of his athleticism and attacking prowess have been a cruel tease amid Jurgen Klopp’s current injury crisis.

His blend of bursting runs from midfield, frantic ball retrieval and expansive passing range looks well-aligned to the system and setup that has taken Liverpool to a Champions League final and on the brink of another top-four finish.

Given the nature of the modern transfer market, £52.75million could prove an inspired steal.
