Liverpool to acquire winger; Spaniard already at Melwood

Liverpool are trialling Mallorca winger Angel Sanchez Baro, according to Neil Jones in Goal.

The 20-year-old has made a senior appearance for the Spanish side, but more regularly features for their B-Team.

He’s out of contract in the summer and could move to Liverpool for free, after scoring a goal while on trial this week.

Liverpool U23s won 4-1 against Punjab FC in a friendly and Sanchez Baro powered in an impressive second for the Reds.

With Yan Dhanda’s contract not likely to be renewed, Baro could be an interesting option, although the fact he’s already 20 and is very far from making the grade means it doesn’t fill us with much excitement.

Jones claims that young St Johnstone goalie Ross Sinclair is also on trial, with the 17-year-old keeping net in the victory over the Kent-based side.

Both will now play in the U23s’ final friendly of the campaign, against Jong Ajax, which should be a much higher calibre of opponent.

Interestingly, the link with Mallorca has been established via Liverpool loaning them Anderson Arroyo, the young Colombian left-back who joined in January but departed immediately for work-permit reasons.
