Nabil Fekir with teasing response to Liverpool rumours

Nabil Fekir says it is time to look to the future amid speculation linking him to a summer move to Liverpool.

The Frenchman completed his season with Lyon on Saturday evening with a 3-2 win over Nice to seal a third-placed finish in the Ligue 1 table.

Fekir was substituted in the 83rd minute, leaving the pitch to a standing ovation in what was tipped to be his final game for the club.

Speaking afterwards, the 24-year-old was coy on the links to Liverpool but made note of affirming his commitment to Lyon throughout the season.

He said: “Farewell? Frankly, I don’t know,” per the Mirror.

“I spent an exceptional season here with players, fans and the staff. We ended up in beauty. You have to pass a course, it is true. I think I gave everything to Lyon.”

“Now it is time to look into the future.”

Reports surfaced during the match that a deal worth in the region of £62million was close to completion, although such a belief is yet to be matched by the British media.

Fekir played an instrumental role in leading his side to Champions League qualification, registering 18 goals and eight assists in the league.

With Lyon allegedly keen to decide his future before the start of the World Cup in Russia, it won’t be too long before Reds are granted some clarity over the legitimacy of Liverpool’s interest.

Until then, the club has the small matter of a Champions League final to prioritise.
