Mo Salah: Jurgen Klopp is my ‘very close friend’

This is exactly the kind of thing we want to hear from Liverpool’s most dangerous forward since Ian Rush!

Mo Salah, who’s on 44 goals this season and needs a hat-trick to go level with the Welshman for the most goals in a single season (imagine…), has claimed he has a terrific relationship with Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s brilliant, vibrant, genius manager.

“From the first day, we were friends – he treated me like a friend so we are very close to each other, but still he is the boss and I am the player, Salah told Sky Sports.

“As a coach – as you can see – everyone knows him.”

When Liverpool signed Salah last summer for under £40m, nobody had any idea the Egyptian would reach the levels he already has.

In fact, after a few weeks, Reds were criticising the 25-year-old for being a bad finisher, which when you look at how many times he’s hit the back of the net from open play, is farcical.

We truly hope Salah stays at Liverpool for years and years – and a perfect relationship with his manager will help.

The key for any world-class player to stay at a club is trophies and money. If we can offer Salah both, there’s a chance he’ll be our no.11 for plenty more seasons to come.

Look at Sergio Aguero, for example. Manchester City aren’t a huge club, but they win things and pay mega wages – so he’s never pined for an exit.
