(Video) Crushed Loris Karius apologises to Liverpool fans at full-time

A grief-stricken Loris Karius was captured holding his hands up in apology to his fans after making two defining errors in Liverpool’s Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

The goalkeeper was left in tears at full-time in realisation of his errors costing Liverpool their hand Kiev’s European showdown.

Karius had been at fault for an extraordinary opening goal when he threw the ball directly at Karim Benzema, before the rebound rolled into an open goal.

Having been beaten by Gareth Bale’s astonishing and frankly unstoppable over-head kick, Karius then flapped a long-range effort from the Welshman into his own net to put the game to bed.

Two gut-wrenching moments for Liverpool supporters were the root of an inconsolable Karius after the final whistle.

It took a brave moment from the German to put himself in front of the travelling Kop and express his sorrow on the most prestigious stage of all in club football.

A devastating end to an otherwise emphatic European journey, but with the makings to be a ruthless springboard to Liverpool’s rise under Jurgen Klopp.
