Loris Karius makes heartbreaking statement after sleepless night

Loris Karius says he is ‘infinitely sorry’ to his teammates and fans after his mistakes in Saturday’s Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

The German endured an evening to forget in Kiev as his errors gifted Real Madrid an opening goal and a defining third either side of Gareth Bale’s sublime over-head kick.

A grief-stricken Karius was left inconsolable at full-time and took immediate blame for his side’s loss during a tough post-match interview.

He has since taken to social media to express his anguish and sorrow after undoubtedly one of the longest night’s of his life.

Liverpool’s first choice shot-stopper has since been on the receiving end of vile hate messages on social media for his part in last night’s heartbreak.

It marked a torrid collapse following his brightest spell of form for the club and during a game that Liverpool stood an excellent chance of coming out on top in.

To finish the campaign in such fashion is a crushing blow, but it shouldn’t deter optimism from what has been a season of life-long memories and some of Europe’s most exhilarating attacking football under Jurgen Klopp.
