(Video) Sergio Ramos in suspicious collision with Loris Karius before opening goal

Footage has emerged of what some Reds believe is Sergio Ramos elbowing Loris Karius in a collision prior to the goalkeeper’s first mistake in Saturday’s Champions League final.

Insinuations that it was deliberate are easy to jump on board with given the heartbreak of Kiev and Ramos’ track record, although the angle leaves it difficult to see just how intentional it was.

Virgil van Dijk can also be seen to manoeuvre Ramos from his path in preparation for a cross coming in, which appears to force the Real Madrid captain into Karius.

The incident occurred two minutes before Karius threw the ball directly into Karim Benzema, before the consequent rebound rolled into Liverpool’s open goal.

This sparked suggestions on social media that the German goalkeeper may have been suffering as a result of the blow to the head.

Karius was left inconsolable after the final whistle having also mis-handled a long-range effort from Gareth Bale to concede Real Madrid’s third and perhaps defining goal on the night.

An admirable shift from the Reds came to no avail, but shouldn’t overshadow a memorable European journey.
