Hamann SLAMS Karius in BRUTAL interview…

Didi Hamann played football when the average footballer was a little harder and a little less sensitive than the current one.

That’s not necessarily in praise of the past or in criticism of the current – it’s just a fact.

And the German has never minced his words – especially when it comes to the current Liverpool batch.

In the past, he’s had a go at Jurgen Klopp and Jordan Henderson, but never to the extent he’s just went in on Loris Karius.

The goalkeeper lost the Champions League Final for us on Saturday and needs replacing urgently, but Hamann has well and truly stuck the boot in.

Check out what he had to say…

“My sympathy with Karius is limited,” Hamann told Bild.

“We don’t have to discuss that he decided the final with his two mistakes.

“Something like that can also happen to a professional footballer. But what I didn’t like was his behaviour afterwards.

“To publicly show his suffering after the final whistle was just as unnecessary as his tearful asking for forgiveness from the Reds fans.

“Liverpool fans forgive their stars just as well as any other, the anthem ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ is part of life out at the club,” he said.

“With one exception: when your ego doesn’t match your performance.

“Karius drives through Liverpool with the personalised number plates ‘LK1’ and makes waves in the city whenever he steps out.

“Having airs like that is something Cristiano Ronaldo, alias CR7, can pull off in Madrid, because he has won the Champions League five times.

“Someone like Karius has not achieved anything yet in his career and should be happy to have been given the chance by (Liverpool coach Jurgen) Klopp at a world-class club.”

Hamann makes some fair points, but it’s kind of unnecessary and unhelpful to his countryman who’s obviously going through a horrible, horrible time individually..

We do think Karius needs to leave (and have done since 2017, actually), but the criticism from a former Red here is personal beyond belief.

We’re not sure what his number plate has to do with anything.
