LFC eye dazzling Guedes as Dembele alternative – Reliable report

Gonçalo Guedes is one of the most exciting young talents in European football.

Just after turning 20 in January 2017, the Portuguese flyer joined PSG from Benfica, but was sent to Valencia on loan for this campaign just gone – as his chances of minutes with Ligue 1’s finest were small.

(After all, Angel di Maria can’t get in the side due to Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani ahead of him in the pecking order when everyone’s fit…).

Guedes shone in La Liga for Valencia, registering nine assists and scoring five more times in a very successful temporary spell.

Now, according to Ste Hoare at Read Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp wants to borrow the 21-year-old for a campaign himself.

Their report says Guedes isn’t a priority and that our bid will will be ‘loan first, transfer later,’ but that the winger is now an established option for the Reds.

This makes complete sense to us. He’s young, can cover both flanks in a 4-3-3 and is one of the players with immense talent who is actually acquirable.

Liverpool need backup options in our front-three urgently, with Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke sadly not up to scratch for a side who wants to challenge on four fronts.

The Daily Mail says Ousmane Dembele is a target, but considering the mammoth fee Barcelona paid to get him last summer, won’t be easily attainable.

Either winger would do us fine, to be honest.

With Guedes or Dembele as rotation options – and Nabil Fekir (who’ll hopefully sign) also capable of moving up into a front-three – we look much more well-equipped up top for 2018/19.
