Lyon given Nabil Fekir warning that mirrors Coutinho’s Barca move

It’s not nice when your club is the victim of a bullying transfer tactic, as we’ve found out time and time again at the hands of Barcelona.

So we’re not going to celebrate this warning from respected France Football journalist Nabil Djellit.

The reporter has told Lyon to relinquish their grasp on club captain Nabil Fekir, who’s already decided he wants to join Liverpool.

His language used mirrors the comments of journalists and Barcelona’s propaganda-arm throughout the entirety of last summer, actually:

At the moment, Liverpool are yet to agree a fee with the French for Fekir, who will play at the World Cup, which starts in eight days’ time.

Most fans and probably the player himself would like his future decided before then, but we’d be surprised if a deal got done in such a short space of time.

Interestingly, RMC say that Lyon youngster Houssem Aouar will pen new terms and take up Fekir’s no.10 role next term, suggesting it’s a matter of ‘when’ and not ‘if’ the 24-year-old moves to Anfield.

We’re very excited about Fekir, despite the fact the potential transfer is turning into a bit of a saga already.

In terms of attributes, he’s got everything it takes to adequately replace Coutinho, whose guile and creativity in central areas has been undeniably missed, especially towards the very end of the season.
