Gracious Hazard makes Mo Salah World Cup promise

Eden Hazard, who’s playing for Belgium at this summer’s World Cup, has claimed he’ll be supporting Egypt!

The Chelsea winger just helped his country beat the Pharos in a friendly, but Salah of course wasn’t playing as he battles to get fit for the tournament, which starts in Russia in seven days’ time.

Salah injured his shoulder in the Champions League Final and despite early indications not looking good, he’s now expected to be fit for his side’s opener against Uruguay, who are spearheaded by Luis Suarez.

“Egypt have good players. We managed to take control of the match and scored an early goal which made things easier for ourselves,” Hazard told ON Sport, cited by Goal.

“We are glad about defeating Egypt 3-0. I wish Salah the best and hope he returns. I will support Egypt in the World Cup for him.

“Egypt are so different without Salah but they still performed well with compact lines. Their playing style is close to that of Tunisia.

“I spoke with Salah after the Champions League final and sent him a message, as I said he is my friend and I want to see him in the World Cup.”

Hazard and Salah used to play together at Chelsea, but while the former has gone on to become one of their greatest ever players, the latter’s talent was never appreciated and he was shipped out to Italy.

That was to Liverpool’s benefit, with Jurgen Klopp securing Salah last summer from AS Roma.

In his debut season, Salah bagged 44 goals, outrageous for a right-winger, and could win the Ballon d’Or if he performs wonders at the World Cup!
