Xherdan Shaqiri gives teasing reaction to Liverpool rumours

Xherdan Shaqiri insists he is leaving his agent to decide his future amid speculation linking him to a summer move to Liverpool.

The Swiss international is likely to leave Stoke City following relegation to the Championship and is believed to have a £12million release clause in his contract.

Anfield has surfaced as a possible destination for the playmaker as Jurgen Klopp seeks to bolster his attacking strength in depth in preparation for a Premier League title charge.

In a recent interview, Shaqiri couldn’t contain the laughter after being confronted with numerous questions surrounding a potential move to Merseyside.

He told BLICK Sport’s Andreas Boni: “I can’t tell you anything right now. I think my agents take care of my future. I’m focussing on the national team right now.”

Shaqiri was arguably one of few Stoke players capable of holding his head high after a miserable season, registering eight goals and seven assists in 36 league appearances.

At the age of just 26, he fits the bill as the rotational option with experience and proven talent to contribute across all competitions in English football.

His ability to play in wider areas would also strengthen a position Liverpool are seriously lacking in depth, whilst his versatility is also ideally-suited to Klopp’s interchanging attacking system.

For £12million and providing he isn’t the only other attacking acquisition, the former Bayern Munich man could prove a steal.
