Buffon’s PSG move makes sub-£25m LFC transfer possible

Everyone thought Gianluigi Buffon would be retiring at the end of the 2017/18 season.

After all, he said he was going to, and he’s 40-years-old… but arguably the greatest keeper of all time is playing on!

According to Sky Sports, the legendary Italian will sign for PSG in the coming days – in his quest to win the Champions League!

As a result, this means their current no.1 Alphonse Areola could be on the market.

The Guardian state he’ll cost less than £25m and Liverpool could be in for him, although Jack Butland is also a candidate…

Areola is 25-years-old, physically enormous and a big talent – although at times he’s struggled for consistency in the biggest games.

Butland, in our opinion, is nowhere near the standard of keeper Liverpool should be targeting, having seen plenty of him throughout his Stoke City tenure.

Bild say Yann Sommer of Borussia Monchengladbach is also a target, while talk of Roma’s Alisson has gone very quiet.

To be honest, so many names have been linked, we have no idea who the current frontrunner is.

Klopp’s holidaying in Ibiza while Michael Edwards is working busily behind the scenes. We have a feeling the new stopper will be announced out of the blue – and it might not even be one of the multiple names mooted so far.
