Lyon chairman with weird comments on Fekir deal that include Real Madrid

This tweet from @ThoseScouseLads sums up what we think of the Nabil Fekir transfer saga, to be honest!

We’d well and truly had enough of it, but when new news breaks, you can’t help but get dragged back in!

And Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has stirred the pot by discussing the future of his club’s captain once again.

Aulas claimed when asked about Liverpool signing Fekir after the World Cup that nothing is impossible, throwing Real Madrid’s name into the mix as well [GFFN].

“Nothing is ever completely over in the footballing world. Personally, I am no longer in discussions with Liverpool,’ He began. “At the moment, we are waiting for France and Nabil to have a fantastic World Cup. If Nabil was to start in the World Cup final… I am thinking about Nabil, about his future, about his family, because I especially like his dad and the entire environment. He has an agent in Jean-Pierre Bernès of the highest quality. You should not worry, I think that Nabil’s career is going to be even greater if he stays at Lyon, but it will not be me who decides.”

“I think it is true, there have not been any discussions, but I think they [Real Madrid] are interested.”

In a separate interview, Aulas then said it was he who cancelled Liverpool’s Fekir deal due to the time it was taking to get over the line…

The truth is that nobody knows exactly what’s going to happen with Fekir, whose transfer was practically signed and sealed, only for it not to go through.

The 24-year-old had undertaken a medical and even done his introductory club interviews, but Liverpool have remained tight-lipped on its failure, despite fan frustration.

It’s clear a playmaker is an absolute priority, so if we do not reignite our Fekir interest, we’re sure another potential midfield signing with guile and creativity will emerge.
