Paul Joyce confirms LFC striker makes sad, but ultimately correct decision

Liverpool forward Danny Ings wants to exit the club he joined in 2015, Paul Joyce has confirmed on Twitter.

The Englishman arrived from Burnley on a Bosman deal when Brendan Rodgers was still in charge, but two horrible injuries ultimately stunted his progression and he’s never been able to get into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team consistently.

The season gone, Ings made just three Premier League starts, which considering he was fit for the majority of it, is not really enough for a 25-year-old striker with ambitions of getting into the England squad again.

It’ll be with a heavy heart we see Ings leave, but it’s definitely the right decision.

Next term, youngster Rhian Brewster will be ahead of him in the pecking order and Ings is not going to be able to fulfil the number of minutes he wants – despite our European qualification.

We hope Ings goes to a mid-table side and plays regularly, as he could score goals and become somebody’s focal point.

Sadly though, he doesn’t have the elite capability of Roberto Firmino – and we need our forwards to have slightly more flair and technical nous.
